Things to do
Eindhoven is located approximately 25 km from our wedding venue. If you choose to come a few days early, stay a few days later, or have some
down time, we encourage you to explore the Netherlands! See some of our recommendations on things to do below.
Eindhoven:
The Philips Museum is a dedication to Philips, the company which made Eindhoven the Silicon Valley of Europe.
Explore Strijp-S (from an old industrial complex to Eindhoven’s new hotspot), Evoluon (a look at the future from the past), The Van Gogh-Roosegaarde bicycle path (Starry Night in real life), PSV Museum (for the football fans).
EAT!
There are so many delicious restaurants! Here are some of our favourites from Eindhoven
-The Happiness Cafe (healthy all-day brunch with great coffee & pastries)
-Bean brothers (Great coffee!)
-Anne & Max (brunch & lunch restaurant)
-Takumi (our favourite Ramen place! Even better than authentic Japanese Ramen. Try the Mala Noukou Chicken Ramen)
-Downtown Gourmet Market: the world on your plate in Eindhoven
-Krishna Vilas (south-Indian)
- De Burger (A good quality burger)
Amsterdam:
This city is one of Europe’s biggest tourist hubs for a reason; apart from the usual stuff ;), there are a plethora of museums, wonderful sights to see and have delicious food from all parts of the world.
Our suggestion is to stay a couple of days in Amsterdam and buy the Amsterdam City Card. This gives you free access to museums, canal cruises & Castles. Even if you don’t end up taking the City Card, do check out Rijksmuseum, Castle Muiderslot, the windmills of Zaanse Schans & Albert Cuyp Market.
Rotterdam:
A modern city with a taste for the wackiest architecture. Rotterdam has the largest port of the Netherlands, delicious Turkish & Moroccan food and a stunning view of the sunset along the Eramus bridge.
Do visit Martkhal and the Cube houses to see how unique the architecture of Rotterdam is.
Delft, Den haag:
This place holds a special place in our hearts, not just because it’s the town we met in but because we studied here and made a lot of friends. Also, it’s the first place we lived in the Netherlands.
That aside, the Technical University of Delft is a great place to visit. You could spend about 2-3 hours just walking across the campus. The aula building & the library are great places to visit.
The city centre of Delft is best described as quaint. Do visit on a Saturday, the flea market in Delft for some great fries, fried fish & cookies!
Delft is famous worldwide for the Deft Blue pottery, so don’t forget to take a souvenir for your mum or that special person ;).
Tip: If you’re interested in the history of the city or just want to know more about any of these cities, sign up for the walking tours organised in each of these places
